In June 2012 Keith, Matt & Dave will be climbing the three highest mountains in Wales (Snowdon), England (Scafell Pike), Scotland (Ben Nevis) and cycling between each mountain (carrying all our equipment) a total of approximately 500 miles in 10 days and also raising funds for Galloways Society for the Blind, a Charity based in Preston, who support more than 6,500 blind and visually impaired people across Lancashire and beyond.

One & a bit days to go

We have received a nice "Good Luck" card from all the staff at Galloways Society for the Blind. Thanks George & everybody else for your support & best wishes.

We are all ready for Saturday and the start of our challenge. We have done the training and planning, we just need some good weather and a tailwind.

Keep checking the "Blog" as we are hoping to update it every day, whenever we get the chance.

8 Days to go

Brian Ashman & Chris Collins from Preston FM
Busy day today being interviewed for Preston FM by Brian & Chris. The interview should go out tomorrow morning (Friday) at 9.30 am, on 103.2
The station is completely run by volunteers and I had a very enjoyable experience. (the coffee was a bit of a let down Brian).
I have promised them that we will all return to the station after we complete the challenge to give the listeners an update.

The Countdown Begins

The only two bikes without an engine
Yes there's now only 10 days to go to the start of our challenge.
Dave and I had our last long training ride on Sunday (May 20th) when we rode the Lunesdale Audax, 85 miles of very hilly cycling. Everything went okay so it's now just a matter of giving the bikes a service and  start trying to fit everything into 2 small panniers and a top bag.
On Thursday we have been invited to Preston FM for a recorded interview that will be broadcast next week.

Reconnaissance Mission

Summit of Scafell Pike
Yesterday (Sunday) we walked to the top of Scafell Pike from the Youth Hostel at Borrowdale, this is the  Hostel we will be using in less than 4 weeks time. We were undecided before we set off as to which route we will be taking up Scafell pike from Seathwaite. So we ascended using the "Corridor" route and descended via "Grains Gill".
Afterwards we decided that we would use the "Grains Gill" route when we next return.
It was a long day with 3,000ft of climbing and a total distance of 16 miles.
