If you are training for a challenge but will have a car or van following you carrying all your equipment then don't read any further. But if like us you are going to be carrying everything yourself, then it's a good idea to start training a couple of months before with your bike loaded with the equivalent weight to what you will be carrying during the challenge. You will find that it handles completely different, especially on hills.
We find that a bottle of Tesco's Lime & Lemon filled with water and placed in each pannier gives a similar weight to what we will be carrying (5 kilo's in each rear pannier).
So for the next 9 weeks the training is going to get harder.

In June 2012 Keith, Matt & Dave will be climbing the three highest mountains in Wales (Snowdon), England (Scafell Pike), Scotland (Ben Nevis) and cycling between each mountain (carrying all our equipment) a total of approximately 500 miles in 10 days and also raising funds for Galloways Society for the Blind, a Charity based in Preston, who support more than 6,500 blind and visually impaired people across Lancashire and beyond.

A grand weekend
On Saturday all 3 of us had some photographs taken which will appear in the local lep shortly. We then had a great 4 hour ride with half of it riding into the wind! Great ride with brilliant company. 12 weeks until the big challenge as well. Exciting times :~>
